Told through alternating POVs, The Encore follows Lottie, Anna, and Will during transformative periods in their lives. All three are wildly talented musicians on wildly different paths. Although their lives are different, they are connected in ways they could have never imagined, and the discovery of these connections leads them on quite the journey. They embark on a cross-country tour and are forced to reconcile with their past choices.

What I loved:
• The NYC setting
• The fashion designer uncle/father figure
• I learned a LOT about music (as someone who knows next to nothing about music this was very cool to learn about)
• I appreciated how delicately the author handled heavy topics

What I didn’t love:
• I was not a huge fan of the big choice Anna made (this choice basically drove the plot of the whole book). I wished it had played out differently, and I had a hard time accepting why she did it. But after more was revealed about her past, I came to understand and respect her decision

Thank you so much for the ARC, @unionsqandco!
Happy Monday! I hope everyone has a great reading Happy Monday! I hope everyone has a great reading week 😇

I’m reading Project Hail Mary (I actually started it a few months ago and paused for some reason?!) and Wuthering Heights on my kindle. I know the movie isn’t exactly like the book, but I still want to read it before going to see the new movie on 3/1 ❤️‍🔥

February hopefuls 💙 The Encore: The strong bond b February hopefuls 💙

The Encore: The strong bond between two college friends and musicians is made more complicated when a long withheld secret is exposed, forcing them together on an unexpected journey. Releases in March!

Wuthering Heights: I know the new movie isn’t going to be an exact adaptation, but I still really want to read it before seeing the movie releases later this month!

We Love You, Bunny: The sequel to the beloved Bunny. I’m really looking forward to reading this one!

The Cliffs: J. Courtney Sullivan is one of my favorite authors who mainly writes literary fiction, so when I heard she had a newer release I somehow missed, I knew I had to check it out!

This cover 🤝 my bedding colors lol Heart the Love This cover 🤝 my bedding colors lol

Heart the Lover has been allll over my feed - but it fell a little flat for me. The writing is solid, but I wanted more time with the characters to have an even deeper understanding of them. I think it could have been 100 or so pages longer and that would have solved a lot of it! Also, this is definitely *not* a light read even though the cover is bright and fun.

Overall - still worth the read, especially if you’ve read any of her other books! It’s a quick and emotional read that I finished in one sitting.

Is it possible for the first book I read in 2026 t Is it possible for the first book I read in 2026 to be one of my favorite books of the whole year? Stay tuned, but I think so.

In The Correspondent, we meet Sybil, a curmudgeonly and stubborn older lady who lives alone and is slowly going blind. It’s a beautifully written epistolary novel, told only through letters and emails. There is no traditional dialogue, yet I felt like I understood the characters deeply, which was fascinating to me. I don’t think I’ve read anything else told entirely through letters and emails. It got me thinking a lot about the power of the written word and how the shorter form of texting has replaced letter-writing, and the (likely negative) impact that this has on our ability to form deeper connections with others. Besides thank-you notes, I’ve never taken the time to write someone a letter, but The Correspondent made me wish I had.

Sybil was a grump and a bit stubborn, but she ended up being my favorite character (although Theodore was a very close second). I laughed, I cried, and I loved every word. This is one I’ll be recommending to EVERYONE. 5 ⭐️
